Severe trauma comes with the territory for firefighters. And the onslaught of nightmares, panic attacks, guilt, and other symptoms in the aftermath of a critical incident make returning to everyday life that much harder.
Thanks to Waterous’ new charitable sponsorship, firefighters and other first responders have a chance to attend PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) retreats through the First Responder Support Network (FRSN) and heal from critical incident suffering for little or no cost.
What are FRSN retreats?
FRSN’s weeklong residential retreats are designed to help firefighters and other first responders heal from mental and physical suffering caused by PTSD. Staffed entirely by volunteers, including licensed clinical psychologists, social workers, chaplains, and peer mentors, the majority of FRSN employees are also veteran first responders.
